AYSO and our region divides up teams in the following divisions by age (please note the appropriate soccer ball sizes for each division, if you choose to purchase your child a ball).
Note that in 2018 AYSO moved to a system that calculates division based on age by calendar year, not school year. Your child will be assigned to a team based on his/her age as of December 31, 2024, and each division encompasses a two-year span. This means, for example, that there will be plenty of four-year-olds on a 6U team -- these are kids whose birthdays fall in June or later in the year! If they will turn 5 by the end of the calendar year (after the season concludes), they are properly classified as 6U. So if your child playing on a team that sounds too "old," this is why. Rest assured that your child will be on a team with peers, and kids on the upper end of the two-year span will age up into the next division.
We strive for balanced teams (in gender, age, athletic ability) in accordance with AYSO philosophy. Note that no special requests for team assignments can be granted except for siblings.
